The AK-47 (actually an AKM with a 47 handguard) is an improved version of the AK-47 introduced in 1959. Its first appearance is in the Dam level.

Overview[]

It has a 30 round magazine and fires in either full-automatic or semi-automatic mode. Being the lowest rated Assault Rifle in Goldeneye Reloaded it is highly recommended to upgrade to a better rifle like the Kallos-TT9 or the Anova DP3.

Singleplayer[]

The weapon is standard issue for Russian soldiers in the singleplayer portion of the game and is the first Assault Rifle that Bond picks up in most early levels. It serves as a starter assault rifle with the poorest Rate Of Fire, Range, Accuracy and Damage. However, it does have the most amount of reserve ammo of all the assault rifles.

Multiplayer[]

The AK-47 is unlocked at level 3 and is a decent introduction to the Assault rifle class. It is the only assault rifle that can't be fitted with a silencer. Many see the use of Ourumov in Heroes mode as the fastest way to earn all of the AK-47 XP rewards as his AK-47 is more powerful and Ourumov also has better armor which allows for easier eliminations with the gun. It should be noted that grenade launcher eliminations do not count towards Ak-47 totals. Ourumov is largely considered as the worst Hero due to his AK-47 and smoke grenades. Even though his AK-47 works surprisingly well on medium ranges (long range is useless as he has no sight accessory) and it has a grenade launcher, he only has three grenades to use with it, so it is not exceedingly useful. It is advised not to use Ourumov as a hero unless your team is clearly in the lead and you know that you can handle him.

Common loadouts for the AK-47 as higher levels are attained include the Laser /Heavy Hitter/Extended Magazine/BioBooster combination as they help compensate for the weak performance of the rifle. While commonly used by lower level players, the Reflex Sight proves to be ineffective at improving accuracy and can actually obstruct the view of the target with the AK. Until the laser becomes and option iron sights are the recommended option. Due to its lack of range, the AK is best kept to short to medium range maps like Archives or Docks.

Some high level players have been trying to make up a new strategy with AK-47, using the ACOG in order to quickly score a headshot (due to its high recoil, the gun's barrel moves up and down a lot, giving a higher chance to accidentally hit the head.) (Refer to the Kunara V page for more information.) While this can work, it is still advised not to use this assault rifle on higher levels.
