The KF7 Soviet is an assault rifle that is the standard issue of all Russian guard enemies, including Russian Soldiers, Siberian Guard (Arkangelsk) and Siberian Guard (St. Petersburg), Arctic Commandos and some others. The KF7 Soviet is based on the stock-less AK-47, which is seen in many James Bond movies. One of the most common weapons, it can be found in nearly every mission in GoldenEye 007, specifically the first half of the game. The KF7 has a zoom effect when in aim mode. This weapon is not recommended to shoot very rapidly, since it's very loud and can attract nearby guards with its noise (this applies to all other automatics). Short bursts reduce the chance of alerting and help improve its accuracy. Despite being based on a powerful real life rifle, it is the most basic automatic in the game and is relatively inaccurate.

Notes[]

  • During development, this weapon was called "Kalashnikov AK47" and was based after its real-world counterpart. However, in the GoldenEye movie's set it is said that the gun prop used is a heavily modified Chinese "Norinco Type 56-1" rifle that look like AKS-74s. It is not clear why the name was changed.
  • This weapon's model was drastically changed before release. While both are similar and resemble a Type 56, the final model has a sleeker appearance.
  • The KF7 Soviet is featured in Perfect Dark as the KF7 Special.
  • It is found in every St. Petersburg level except for Train.
  • In Depot it cannot be used without the Infinite Ammo cheat, due to the fact that the rifles there are empty of any ammo.
  • Due of the rifle's appearance, the KF7 Soviet is well known in the GoldenEye fanbase as the "pencil gun". It also resembles a Duracell battery.
  • Ironically, this gun and the AR33 are seemingly reversed in raw power compared to their actual counterparts. The AK-47's rounds are bigger and heavier (7.62-39mm) than the M16's 5.56mm which are smaller but faster. Both real guns penetrate, but the former does it harder. The AR33 can pierce targets but the KF7 Soviet does not, and the former is stronger. However, both GoldenEye 007 weapons do match their real life counterparts in accuracy and fire rate.
  • The Phantom shares the same firing sound as this weapon.
  • The KF7 is modelled with a trigger in the original N64 release, but strangely, the trigger is absent in the XBLA Remaster.
