The Pavlov ASR (SVD Dragunov) is a low-level sniper rifle designed by Yeveny Dragunov and produced by the Russian company Izhmash beginning in 1963. Its first appearance is in the Dam level.

OverviewEdit

The Pavlov ASR is a Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle that comes with a 10 round box magazine and a telescopic scope. The Pavlov is a good sniper rifle, boasting a fast fire rate for the class, however it doesn't match the damage and accuracy of other sniper rifles.

The Pavlov ASR ingame

The Pavlov ASR is the first sniper rifle available in single player. It appears only in the Dam, and can sport the Thermal Scope and / or a Silencer. While the Pavlov doesn't excel very well in close combat, it can be useful in long range situations. In the Dam level, the Pavlov specifically appears in the beginning of the mission, where 007 and 006 initiate their assault on the Dam. The Pavlov can be found at the top of the first tower facing the entrance to the Dam, along with some extra ammo.

There are two more Pavlovs in the mission, one with a thermal scope but no silencer in a chest near the locked door at the base of the structure supporting the helipad (Wii) or in a chest near the gate leading out onto the Dam (Reloaded), and one with a standard scope and no silencer in the far guard tower, used by a sniper. In the Wii version the player retains the first Pavlov when they regain control after the driving sequence, while in Reloaded it is removed from their inventory.

Multiplayer Edit

The Pavlov ASR is unfortunately the weakest sniper rifle in the game. A hit to the chest will not, in most cases, kill an enemy. Also the Pavlov has poor accuracy, however, this is quite unnoticeable in matches.

TriviaEdit

The weapon's name may be a reference to Yakov Pavlov, a Sergeant in the Russian army during WWII who famously defended a small apartment building in Stalingrad for three months against massive German opposition with just 25 men.
